At our 2008 annual meeting, the committee and some of our members agreed on the usefulness of creating a French-language reading group.
Since then we have about 360 books and 22 members spread across 3 groups covering the areas of Casino – Lismore – Fernleigh – Byron Bay and surrounding areas.
On this site you can consult our ever-growing list, where you will find mostly recently published books, selected according to the quality of the writing and the interest of their subject matter. Many have received awards.
The groups form and organize themselves independently. They decide on the location and frequency of their meetings, some every six weeks and others monthly. Each member of the reading groups is first and foremost a member of the Alliance Française Côte du Nord (Lismore). Membership in the Alliance is $30 ($40 per couple/family) per year, and membership in the reading group is $50 per year.
One can be a member of the reading group without necessarily belonging to a group. However, experience has shown that these meetings are invaluable opportunities to practice the beautiful French language in a friendly atmosphere.
